The timeliness of the release of Mind Matters is a blessing. I recently had to commit a loved one to a psychiatric facility. Family and concerned friends had so many questions. I had so many questions.While it is a high level perspective, which is explained in the intro, the book offers answers to questions we didn’t know to ask. It shed light on behaviors that were hurtful and confusing. More importantly, it opened the opportunity for open and honest dialogue amongst family.The cultural nuances discussed are important. Every opportunity I get I share this book. What I love most is that ANYONE, regardless of education level, can understand the information presented.If I could hand this book out at Black churches everywhere I would. It’s a must have life saving resource.

If your "everything you need in one" pack includes a sub-header of "Requires Skilljack", you might be doing it wrong.Still, this is a minor gripe. I cannot recommend this book enough if you're serious about your Shadowrun.
This is the leather edition. It's beautiful. Binding appears to be stitched instead of glued like the standard hardcover edition, which are widely criticized for coming apart even with very light use. I'm hoping for better performance out of the leather bound editions.The content appears identical to the standard edition. Heavy, high quality paper in full color. The art is very nice. This book has an image embossed on the leather cover (an ouroboros), and the title is in gold. On the back cover is the Shadowrun logo in gold.The edges are NOT guilded in gold.It is NOT numbered. (The leather bound Core Rulebook is supposed to be numbered -- only 1000 made-- and has guilded edges. These do not.)Side note, the leather-bound Run & Gun i got has a glued binding just like the low rate standard hardcover, so don't assume all of the leather bound editions will be better quality or longer lasting. Catalyst books are notoriously overpriced and underbuilt. Great art, crappy binding. Once upon a time, you could get a sturdy RPG book and use it constantly for 20 years. Now-a-days, you pay $50 and get glued bindings that rips free with the second use. It's sad. At least for the most part, these leather editions are generally better quality and should hold up to regular use. If you can pick one up for around $50, and it will outlast the standard edition by a long shot, I recommend picking up these.Leather editions I've gotten with stitched bindings include: Run Faster, Data Trails, Rigger 5.0, Howling Shadows.
Like my Run & Gun review: I dropped a star not because of content, but because of failures with quality control on the printers side. Book has a few mis cuts on pages, extra folded in page length thats obviously not intended to be there. More little slices take out of pages randomly. These are clear manufacturer defects, that were still shipped out. Overall it was much better QA than say the Run & Gun book I received, but Catalyst definitely needs to talk to their printer, and refuse to accept sub-par prints. When I drop 40-60 on a book, I don't want it to be beat up before I even get it.As for the content:Tons of meta variants, including a human metavariant? really?, alternate character creation methods, although I personally prefer the reintroduction of the old priority system.Gear packages that have karma or nuyen cost. Which I believe is technically part of another creation system, but its done well enough that it can slide into the others kind of like gear qualities or the older "corp suites".Lots more stuff. (other reviews break it down better)Its definitely a book worth buying despite the physical printing QA problems.All in all, if you're going to buy 1 addition to SR 5 E, make it this one.
Great info for Shadowwrun 5e and detailed info, but poorly organized. Hard to find anything when I really need to.
This is the character creation supplimental all fans of the previous editions of shadowrun were waiting for. There are new (old) Qualities, like Spirit Whisperer and In Debt, alternate creation styles like the INFAMOUS Build Point system, and a whole lot of new metatypes that we all have been fans of for years, like Minotaurs, Sasquatches and Pixies.This book also contains additions for lifestyles (things like gyms and bars nearby), standard shadowrunner packs for players unsure what to buy, and all the contacts one could ever want to run into.It is definitely worth buying if you are a GM. For players, it's a lot of fun and helps to create characters with fulfilling backstories, but I find this much more beneficial from a GM standpoint.

I write this review with hopes it will help another IT enthusiast like myself.I passed my Network+ Exam yesterday (August 3rd) on my first try. I have zero networking experience, and my only prior knowledge of networking was the introduction to networking class I took while working on my Bachelors in Information Technology.I gave myself one month from receiving this book until I was in the Exam room. I did just that and felt that this book was beneficial. For those of you that have little to no knowledge of networking, this book will help give you an excellent overview of networking. Professor Meyers has a unique method of piecing everything together as you progress throughout the book.Depending on your learning style, I would suggest other material on top of this book when taking the exam. It was difficult, and I don't believe I would have passed just by reading this book alone. The book provided a great foundation of general knowledge on each key objective. However, I used two other study materials to be safe.Professor Messer's videos were beneficial, as well as printing off his PDF notes. His videos are linear with the learning objectives. Which was great to follow up with after cramming this study guide; additionally I found Certmaster was well worth the price. About 800 questions overall and had a quick learning method of re-quizzing you on areas you struggled on.My study methodology:Cram Network+ 007 study guide in two weeks (About 55 pages a day)One week of binging Professor Messer's videos (12 Hours total playing time)One week of CertMaster, and any other areas I felt that I need additional research.I hope this helps those of you that are nervous about the exam like I was.
Just purchased. I don't understand what the drama is about in the other ratings. I bought this book knowing it deliberately catered to the CompTIA curriculum rather than Cisco. I also don't understand the complaints regarding the author's expertise or writing style. I am finding the book to be just fine for preparing me for this exam and acting as a good supplement to my Security+ study material. If I find anything remarkably disagreeable about this book that causes my opinion to change, I'll update this review but it seems great. I got the product I paid for, and this is an all-in-one focus book on Network+. Maybe the negative reviewers were looking for something more in depth than what this book has to offer, I'm not sure. But for my skill level, at this time, this is what I need.edit: It looks like the negative reviews for this item were spam and have since, fortunately, been removed. This book really is worth while to buy and learn from. My review remains at 5 stars.
Mike's books are typically very good. The A+ book was enough for me to pass my exam. This book, however, is missing a lot. Like most of his books, I'd wager close to 100 pages or so could be removed with irrelevant information involving obsolete terms and technologies that no longer exist and haven't for decades.I purchased the CompTIA Certmaster bundle because it wasn't much more expensive than just the exam voucher and it helped a lot with A+. Well almost immediately upon answering CompTIA's actual questions I started noticing that a lot of what they were looking for was nowhere to be found in the nearly 800 pages of a book meant to help you pass the exam. CompTIA's definition of acronyms are different than his (and their definitions are what matters if you want to pass), entire concepts are not even touched on, information about some standards not in here, info about a few specific port numbers are not quite accurate, and a lot more.While this book is a very good prep tool and reference guide for future use, just be wary that you will need to find alternative literature to fill in the gaps. When I go for other certifications I believe I will most likely look for alternatives to Mr. Meyers' books.
I had no extensive knowledge of IT just a particular interest. I recently switch my degree from Healthcare IT to just IT in general. After having read this book Mike provides great examples and easy to remember correlations with all the topics and concepts Comptia is looking for. I passed on my first attempt of the test.
I ordered this 4 weeks before my scheduled exam date. Probably should have gave myself more time. My plan was to read the book, then hit up some practice tests. This book is very well written, besides very detailed and informative, the author injects humor, easy to understand analogies, and logically pulls together all the exam objectives, in a linear fashion. Since I had read the official CompTIA Network+ book and began to feel overwhelmed and discouraged. I hopped on Amazon and researched other Network+ books and Mike Myers book just struck me as an authority on the topic. Now halfway through I can whole heartedly say that I am mesmerized by the author. He technically details each aspect in layman’s terms making it an easy read and it gets me excited that I may have a real opportunity to pass this exam in style. I had put off on buying more books because I wanted to be sure I needed them. Right now I don’t believe I do. I really enjoy his writing style and he points out, in several places, where the test makers themselves have some of the terminology wrong and also lets you know what will likely be on exam and what will not. I could go on and on but I will end it here and let you take my word for it. Excellent book, and excellent perspective. Well done! Bravo!

Books like this are so informational for children and hold such a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoy reading books, like this one and many others to my children, for if you start them young then they will grow to have a love for reading and adventure!
I tried this book with my 2 year old, he was able repeat after me when i showed him the book! Easy format for kids or anyone to follow along! The only thing i wish was differe t was instead of the same graphics i think it would have been better to have a picture of milk or oranges or apples that way kids could make a better connection.
This is a really cute book and so easy to use. I love that it’s geared to young kids and from what I have seen they enjoy learning from this book.
