I write this review with hopes it will help another IT enthusiast like myself.I passed my Network+ Exam yesterday (August 3rd) on my first try. I have zero networking experience, and my only prior knowledge of networking was the introduction to networking class I took while working on my Bachelors in Information Technology.I gave myself one month from receiving this book until I was in the Exam room. I did just that and felt that this book was beneficial. For those of you that have little to no knowledge of networking, this book will help give you an excellent overview of networking. Professor Meyers has a unique method of piecing everything together as you progress throughout the book.Depending on your learning style, I would suggest other material on top of this book when taking the exam. It was difficult, and I don't believe I would have passed just by reading this book alone. The book provided a great foundation of general knowledge on each key objective. However, I used two other study materials to be safe.Professor Messer's videos were beneficial, as well as printing off his PDF notes. His videos are linear with the learning objectives. Which was great to follow up with after cramming this study guide; additionally I found Certmaster was well worth the price. About 800 questions overall and had a quick learning method of re-quizzing you on areas you struggled on.My study methodology:Cram Network+ 007 study guide in two weeks (About 55 pages a day)One week of binging Professor Messer's videos (12 Hours total playing time)One week of CertMaster, and any other areas I felt that I need additional research.I hope this helps those of you that are nervous about the exam like I was.
Just purchased. I don't understand what the drama is about in the other ratings. I bought this book knowing it deliberately catered to the CompTIA curriculum rather than Cisco. I also don't understand the complaints regarding the author's expertise or writing style. I am finding the book to be just fine for preparing me for this exam and acting as a good supplement to my Security+ study material. If I find anything remarkably disagreeable about this book that causes my opinion to change, I'll update this review but it seems great. I got the product I paid for, and this is an all-in-one focus book on Network+. Maybe the negative reviewers were looking for something more in depth than what this book has to offer, I'm not sure. But for my skill level, at this time, this is what I need.edit: It looks like the negative reviews for this item were spam and have since, fortunately, been removed. This book really is worth while to buy and learn from. My review remains at 5 stars.
Mike's books are typically very good. The A+ book was enough for me to pass my exam. This book, however, is missing a lot. Like most of his books, I'd wager close to 100 pages or so could be removed with irrelevant information involving obsolete terms and technologies that no longer exist and haven't for decades.I purchased the CompTIA Certmaster bundle because it wasn't much more expensive than just the exam voucher and it helped a lot with A+. Well almost immediately upon answering CompTIA's actual questions I started noticing that a lot of what they were looking for was nowhere to be found in the nearly 800 pages of a book meant to help you pass the exam. CompTIA's definition of acronyms are different than his (and their definitions are what matters if you want to pass), entire concepts are not even touched on, information about some standards not in here, info about a few specific port numbers are not quite accurate, and a lot more.While this book is a very good prep tool and reference guide for future use, just be wary that you will need to find alternative literature to fill in the gaps. When I go for other certifications I believe I will most likely look for alternatives to Mr. Meyers' books.
I had no extensive knowledge of IT just a particular interest. I recently switch my degree from Healthcare IT to just IT in general. After having read this book Mike provides great examples and easy to remember correlations with all the topics and concepts Comptia is looking for. I passed on my first attempt of the test.
I ordered this 4 weeks before my scheduled exam date. Probably should have gave myself more time. My plan was to read the book, then hit up some practice tests. I read just over half the book in the 3 weeks I had it. I tested having only taken a few practice tests and did only so so on them. I passed, but just barely and need to strengthen my skills and knowledge in a few areas. Even if you work in IT, give yourself more time than I did to prepare for this exam.
the book was great I passed the test with no problems and I am now network+ certified
This book is very well written, besides very detailed and informative, the author injects humor, easy to understand analogies, and logically pulls together all the exam objectives, in a linear fashion. Since I had read the official CompTIA Network+ book and began to feel overwhelmed and discouraged. I hopped on Amazon and researched other Network+ books and Mike Myers book just struck me as an authority on the topic. Now halfway through I can whole heartedly say that I am mesmerized by the author. He technically details each aspect in layman’s terms making it an easy read and it gets me excited that I may have a real opportunity to pass this exam in style. I had put off on buying more books because I wanted to be sure I needed them. Right now I don’t believe I do. I really enjoy his writing style and he points out, in several places, where the test makers themselves have some of the terminology wrong and also lets you know what will likely be on exam and what will not. I could go on and on but I will end it here and let you take my word for it. Excellent book, and excellent perspective. Well done! Bravo!

Books like this are so informational for children and hold such a wealth of knowledge. I really enjoy reading books, like this one and many others to my children, for if you start them young then they will grow to have a love for reading and adventure!
I tried this book with my 2 year old, he was able repeat after me when i showed him the book! Easy format for kids or anyone to follow along! The only thing i wish was differe t was instead of the same graphics i think it would have been better to have a picture of milk or oranges or apples that way kids could make a better connection.
This is a really cute book and so easy to use. I love that it’s geared to young kids and from what I have seen they enjoy learning from this book. A wonderful book and asset to any parent looking to help their child become bilingual.I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love the works by this author but this language series is by far my favorite. I have taken years of Spanish and I love the language and love to share it with the kids I work with. This is such a fun book and the words are so meaningful for kids to interact with the growing number of ELL/ESL students! Keep these books coming. This book is ideal for those who want to learn about the beginning concepts of card counting. It explains how card counting works, and helps disassemble myths readers may have about it. Rather than try and sell some self claimed great counting system, Blaine tells you the truth: There are already a lot of good count methods out there, and each person should choose a count they're most comfortable with using on a regular basis. The book also reassures a vital truth in card counting. The advantage in counting is small, but over the long run you can win under the right rules. It also has a good template for taking notes about staff and playing sessions when a player is at a casino. My favorite part of the book is Blane supports the idea of being in a casino for a short period of time. Some books forget this fact, and sitting in a single casino all day gives security a lot of time to use programs that analyze your playing. (Rest assured, most casinos have about a thousand other issues to deal with, and cheaters and belligerent drunks far outweigh card counters. If you're not betting several hundred a hand with dramatic bet variations, most of your erratic plays in the course of an hour or two will be seen as someone who is very bad at blackjack, rather than very good.)Dislikes: I have a few discrepancies. In this book Blaine says you want 100 max bets for your total bankroll. If you were to do this on an even semi-professional players bankroll, I would recommend at least 125, but ideally over 200 max bets to ensure an incredibly low risk of ruin (losing all your bankroll before you get the number of positive count hands needed to double it.) For those looking for more advanced information on the game itself, Blackjack Professional by Standford Wong is still one of the best books out there. The book also speaks a lot about six deck games, but many casinos I've been to seem to have eight decks as the normal shoe size for the majority of lower minimum tables.Overall an informative book and an easy read.
I truly enjoyed this book along with the author's stories or anecdotes on today's game. It's a revised edition so it's more relevant to today's playing world at the casinos. The games and environment have really changed over the past few years and it's harder and harder to find good games. Casinos weren't built on winnings and they just don't like ANYONE to have an advantage any longer. BUT playing Blackjack is STILL one of the few games that offers one of the best odds of any game in the place. So this book goes a long ways toward teaching someone who has the time, inclination AND desire to become a truly BETTER player than just giving it away to the casino WHILE calling it "entertainment". He runs the gamut from basic strategy and the whys......with some drills to enforce that teaching.........to advantage play/card counting. I think that any serious player or anyone interested in BECOMING a serious player should add this treatise to their blackjack library.
This is a good book for starters. it does not goo very deep on the practical side. But you will find references for better sources inside the book. If you have not chosen your counting system yet, this book will give you great information so you can make up your mind
I've recently become seriously interested in the game of Blackjack and Advantage playing... and no, it was not because I watched the movie '21'.This book really appealed to me because it was from the perspective of someone who has many years experience, while working in a professional career track similar to my situation. Not always true, but all of the other advice books/blogs I've read appeared to be from people who've made Blackjack a full-time career or have limited to no family obligations. While the book did not go into a great amount of detail on his Work-Life balance of Blackjack, Career and family, I felt the author presented a fair and honest summary of areas, time and costs to consider relative to your obligations to your family/career. I also enjoyed the author's advice when playing on other teams, Comps, and Heat/Casino Countermeasures.Since I have not played long enough, I cannot speak to whether any advanced players would get anything out of it, but beginner advantage players would definitely get some value out of it, especially the practice drills and the types of counting systems. Furthermore, I really liked how the author addresses working on your appearance in being able to count while talking with other people and the casino personnel to not give away that you are a counter. Ultimately, this book shows that you can have a successful, long career as a part-time advantage player if you take the time to research and perfect your skills.
I'm reading "Blackjack Blueprint" for the second time.It is an impressive tutorial and practice guide foranyone seriously interested in learning to play blackjack.Similar to Revere's classic work, Mr. Blaine explains thebasics one must learn to get an advantage playing the game.Then he offers practice drills designed to ingrain thosebasic skills/info, so the new BJ player can perform at alevel to compete with the casinos.The last half of the book introduces related topics likeBJ tournament play, casino critters, comps, shuffle tracking,team play, camouflage, etc. All interesting topics for aspiringadvantage players.Blackjack Blueprint is among the best introductory books onadvantage blackjack play that I've read. It compares favorablywith Revere's and Wong's books, and is more up-to-date.I don't hesitate to recommend it, and am happy to own it.
A good strategy book for the intermediate to advanced player. A little too in depth and sophisticated for absolute beginners. You won't go wrong reading this if you want to understand fundamental strategies and playing techniques.

First of all, it's worth the purchase just to get the gps coordinates for the best parking lots outside of every Tuscan hill town. That alone has probably saved many marriages. :) But there is also wonderful information on where to visit, eat, and stay. And so much more. And instead of a bulky guide book, it's a beautifully designed Kindle book with links that make it easy to get right to where you need to be. An absolute essential for anyone planning a vacation to Tuscany.
This book is the most helpful guide for visiting Tuscany that I have come across. Even if we weren't renting cars and driving, it is so full of good information, I would recommend it to anyone visiting the area. After reading the book through from beginning to end, I went back and bookmarked pages with information about places that we want to visit. Now I can access those bookmarks on my smartphone and get driving directions from our villa. Fantastic! Lots of good information about driving in Italy, and even more important, places to park when you get to your destination. I can tell that this book is going to be worth it's weight in gold (well, if it had weight!) Wonderful resource. Highly recommend!
On our second trip to Tuscany, I brought a GPS and this ebook. As this book advocates, a GPS is a lifesaver when driving around Tuscany. The traffic is intense (especially in the Florence/Pisa corridor) and the signage is often awful. The book delivered, too, although with some hiccups that may have something to do with my first-time experience with a (Garmin) GPS. Downloading was easy (as promised), but finding some of the downloads (especially parking) was tricky (often saved to "favorites," while I was looking under "parking"). But I figured it out. If you avoid just one afternoon of frustration wandering around Tuscany while lost, the book paid for itself. Not five stars because I stayed near Lucca, and most of this book (like other guide books) focused on major tourist areas (like Sienna) that I didn't get to.
Tuscany is a wonderful destination but getting the hang of the place can be difficult. At one level, there is the Tuscany frequented by throngs of tourists in Florence and Pisa, while at another level there is the Tuscany of one’s dreams– fabulous landscapes, tiny towns and villages, great food. Most guidebooks focus on the tourist destinations, which is fine for the first-time visitor.Tuscany by Car is different – WAY different. It covers everything in the other books plus hundreds of out-of-the-way destinations best known by the locals, including scores in the hilltop towns region (the best of Tuscany, IMO). But what really makes this book different – and absolutely indispensable for anyone renting a car – are the GPS coordinates. You download them from the author’s website and put them on your Garmin. In Tuscany, pick your destination and go. Remarkable. See the best, never get lost. Nothing like it.
Just a fabulous book; it is the best enlightening information full book about Tuscany. I did find it difficult to read on my Kindle, but on our I pad Pro it is wonderful!We have found wonderful places to visit and stay and even know how to get there.My only criticism is it would have been even better if they had included a detailed map of Tuscany.Thanks to the authors
I spent 3 weeks driving from Rome, throughout Tuscany, and Cinqe Terre. This e-book was my main guide throughout Tuscany. It was so nice to be able to dial in the parking lots GPS coordinates and drive to them directly! It is an essential e-book for anyone who wants to drive and enjoy the heavenly Tuscany's sceneries. The information given is precise and the information listed was invaluable.
Love this book- and I twill be a perfect accompaniment to our upcoming trip.I do wish it was available in printed version- so I could "tag" and highlight areas we are particular interested in. It is kind of a pain to keep going back and forth and making highlights via electronic book.
Just finished reading this book in anticipation of my trip around Tuscany next week. I've done months of research online and in more traditional guide books (Rick Steves and DK/Eye Witness) and found this book to contain more practical information and great suggestions for restaurants and wineries. Perhaps this book is best suited for foodies who will be driving around Tuscany (rather those just wanting to hit up the main sites). It would be great if the authors did a similar book for southern France.

I purchased the Exam Ref 70-687 two weeks ago in paperback and on Kindle for my Surface, along with this 70-687 Lab manual. Great read so far and they have really been helpful. Found a couple things already that weren't covered in previous exam guide materials I have purchased.
Perfect. Looks brand new!
I bought this book thinking it was going to be getting a new, unopened book with a lab key in it. I received my package, the book was not wrapped, had no lab key and had no receipt. It also cost $163 when I bought it and I see the price has gone down to $63 for some reason. The cost of the book is not what is expensive it is the lab key which did not come with my package.
